things to do
Welcome to Pterosaur Pterrace!
When you approach Edelman Fossil Park & Museum, one of the first things you’ll be greeted by is our extraordinary playground. Designed to resemble a scene from the Cretaceous period, you see a flying reptile with large outstretched wings diving into a seascape to catch a fish. This paleontology-themed playground, Pterosaur Pterrace, is a HUGE hit amongst the kids and kids-at-heart!
Designed by Earthscape, an Ontario-based wood playground design company with a renowned team of builders, this playground will be a stunning, one-of-a-kind structure and recreation hotspot for families in the area. Designed to resemble the Pteranodon this sustainably built wooden structure has a 45-foot wingspan that children can climb up and slide down. Kids can find themselves climbing on its back, under its belly, and about its coastal surroundings with plenty of hidden features to explore.
In addition to the central pterosaur structure, this play area features a toddler slide, web swing, climbable forest, and more. Children can play as paleontologists by digging up an Allosaurus skeleton buried in the sand (not to be mistaken with the true Quarry Fossil Dig Experience only a few hundred feet away, with REAL Cretaceous fossils).
Pterosaur Pterrace is unlike any other playground in the area and undoubtedly proves to be popular hotspot for local families and kids to play. Come have some Cretaceous fun! Pterosaur Pterrace is open from dusk to dawn.
