Get ready to unearth history with your own hands! Edelman Fossil Park & Museum is thrilled to announce the seasonal opening of our incredible Quarry Dig experience on May 1st, right here in Mantua Township, NJ!
This isn't your average day out – it's a chance to journey back 66 million years and discover real fossils from the age of dinosaurs. This site has already yielded over 100,000 fossils representing over 100 species iincluding the remains of bus-length mosasaurs, marine crocodiles, sea turtles, bony fish, shark teeth, brachiopods, marine snails, and much more.
Imagine the thrill of sifting through the same earth that holds evidence of the asteroid impact that forever changed our planet. Our unique 45-foot-deep quarry is one of the only places on Earth where you can actually touch this pivotal moment in history. And the best part? You get to be a paleontologist for the day! We provide the tools (plastic shovels and buckets) for you to dig and explore, and you can even take home up to five of your amazing fossil finds! Our knowledgeable Fossil Guides will be on hand to help you identify your treasures and share fascinating insights into the prehistoric world you're uncovering.
To make the most of your 75-minute adventure, come prepared to get a little (or a lot!) muddy. We recommend wearing comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty and sturdy, closed-toe shoes – many of our paleontologists swear by rubber boots! Don't forget essentials like sunscreen and a reusable water bottle to stay happy and hydrated while you dig.
The Quarry Dig is a fantastic premium add-on to your museum admission, priced at just $25 ($20 for members). If you're solely focused on this incredible digging experience, you can purchase a ticket for $40. Everyone entering the quarry needs a ticket, except for little explorers aged 2 and under who join for free with a paying adult. Guests 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult to share in this unforgettable journey through time. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to connect with Earth's ancient past – reserve tickets today and make sure to add this epic adventure to your visit!
